How it Works

Creating a Family Tree

  • To create a family tree, users need to register on iBiographer using a valid email address, password and need to accept our privacy policy and terms of use.

  • The host user (originator of the family tree) can add people to the tree and indicate their relation with other members.

  • The host user can include the relationship status of the members such as married, divorced, widow etc. to the family chart

  • The host user can invite family and friends to complete the family tree or make any changes. The invited members will have to register on the website to view the tree and propose changes.

  • The host user will receive an email to approve the changes proposed by the invited users.

  • The family tree indicating the relationship status of each member can be easily edited to make changes like marriage, divorce, death, new birth etc.

  • Once the family tree has been completed with help from other family members, the host user can keep it private so that no one else can see it or share it with invited family and friends or make it public to be viewed by any registered user on the website.

Creating a Biography

  • A biography can either be purely chronological (arranged by date of occurrence) or it can have a mix of chronological entries, entries by category (such as: The Early Years, Career, In the Service, etc.) and free style (just sentences and paragraphs of text).

  • Once completed the user can publish the biography, keep it private or share it with selected people.

  • Upload photos, videos or music to go along with your story  to see, hear, or play the scene

  • Print the pages with the photos and create a book

  • If you forgot and need to add an event later use the arrows to move chapter to the correct place in the biography timeline

  • Biography can be kept private for only invited guests to see or can be made public for all registered users on to see

  • No need for family members to feel left out or fight over photos and documents. Link to the tree and share it if another family member that has the same family member on their tree e.g. your sister has your mother on her tree can share the link to your mother’s biography and onformation! No need for family members to feel left out or fight over photos and documents.
